In June 2026, College Hill Presbyterian Church (CHPC) welcomed part-time interim co-pastors, Reverend Elaine Hedgecock and Reverend Gordon Edwards. Reverends Hedgecock and Edwards have both been actively involved with CHPC for years, and we are so blessed to have them take on this new role with us. In addition to Reverends Edwards and Hedgecock, we will continue to invite wonderful guest preachers to preach and lead worship each Sunday.
In the coming year we will next conduct a church mission study and form a Pastor Nominating Committee to begin the search for calling a new installed Pastor. Throughout this process, we will be working under the guidance of the Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
We look forward to a new chapter unfolding at CHPC with these Pastoral changes, and are ever thankful for an active congregation, strong Session leadership, and an incredible staff.

Rev. Elaine Hedgecock is a lifelong Presbyterian and graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas. After ordination in 2000, she was installed at First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a church she served for 15 years. After that she was called as a transitional minister at several churches in the Tulsa area. A few years ago she married longtime College Hill member, Mike Wood, and together with her granddaughter, Willamina, the three spend their Sundays together, starting with worship. Elaine has two grown children in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before accepting the call as College Hill Interim Co-Pastor, she began volunteering at Saint Francis Hospital as a Rounder, visiting patients in their rooms. Her other passion is visual art: touring it, talking about it, and especially making it. She has recently been producing portraits in ceramics and watercolor. Elaine is looking forward to going on a faith journey with the College Hill family and with her colleague, Rev. Gordon Edwards.
“What an inspired and inspiring church College Hill is. I feel it, and so do visitors. They’ve told me so. There’s a happy buzz in the air, and Gordon and I are glad to be a part of it as your co-pastors. Let’s bank on the buzz as we move forward this year to better define our unique role as disciples of Jesus in the Kendall-Whitter area and far beyond. And whatever we do, may we always be known for the beautiful way we glorify God together in worship and mission.”

Rev. Dr. Gordon Edwards is a native of Ponca City, Oklahoma. He attended Park College in Parkville, Missouri, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Gordon went on to McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois, earning both a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry. After his ordination in 1965, Gordon went on to serve several Presbyterian churches in the region ~ Southminster Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Bristow Presbyterian Church in Bristow, Oklahoma; St. Barnabus Presbyterian Church in Richardson, Texas; and First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 2013, Gordon retired after over 24 years with First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater. In retirement, Gordon has remained active in the PCUSA, serving as General Presbyter for Cimarron Presbytery since 2014. Gordon moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, in 2014, and has been an active attendee of College Hill. Gordon’s wife of over 57 years, Marty, passed away in March 2026. They have a son that lives in Springfield, Missouri, a daughter that lives in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

I was surprised, humbled, honored and excited as I felt the Spirit moving among us: to be Called with Elaine to serve as Co-Interim Pastors. This is an important time in our life as a community of faith; it is not a season for idleness. Just as the Spirit surprised me, let us be open to the surprises the Spirit will offer us in this season. Though Elaine and I are part-time, be assured our hearts are full-time. God has blessed us with Christ, the Spirit and each other. Let us praise God in this season of transition.”

College Hill Presbyterian Church celebrated the retirement of Rev. Todd Freeman, our Pastor of 18 years, on April 26, 2026.
Pastor Todd’s words to us upon his retirement:
There comes a moment in every shared journey when the road bends, and companions who have walked closely together begin to take different paths. This is one of those moments.
After years of ministry in this community, I step away with a heart full of gratitude and a deep sense of humility.
To serve a progressive congregation is to be shaped by people who are unafraid—unafraid to ask hard questions, to wrestle with faith, to challenge assumptions, and to widen the circle of belonging. That kind of community does not just receive leadership; it transforms it.
Together, you and I have tried to practice a faith that is alive—one that leans toward justice, that makes room for doubt, that refuses easy answers in favor of deeper truth. It has not always been simple.
There have been tensions and growing edges, moments when the path forward was unclear. But even in those moments, there was a shared commitment to keep listening for the Spirit, especially in voices too often overlooked.
There is deep gratitude for the courage found here—for the ways you have sought to embody love not just in word, but in action.
For your willingness to stand with those on the margins, to speak when silence would be easier, and to trust that faith can evolve without losing its soul.
The questions asked here will continue to echo. The relationships formed here will continue to matter. The work begun here will continue, because it was never dependent on one person.
And that is the good news.
The story of this congregation is still unfolding. New leadership will come, new ideas will take root, and new expressions of faith will emerge.
If anything has been learned along the way, it is this: God is always doing a new thing, and you have shown again and again that you are willing to follow.
So this is not an ending, but a letting go.
May you continue to be brave.
May you continue to expand the boundaries of love.
May you trust that doubt is not the opposite of faith, but often its doorway.
And may you always remember that the sacred is not confined to what has been, but is alive in what is becoming.
With deep gratitude, especially to the remarkable church staff, Lisa, Kim, Mike, Betsy, Kye, and Anders, and with hope, I step into the next chapter, trusting that the same Spirit who has guided this journey will continue to lead us all forward.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the honor of serving as your pastor for the past 18 years. I plan on keeping track of you for the next 18.
